TEAM ATLANTA

Meet
Plus Academy -ATLANTA Director -
RHONDA WILKINS

The inception of “Plus Academy” has aroused nationwide interest. Executive Director, Gwen DeVoe has carefully chosen her staff, representative for the Atlanta area is long time friend and business partner Rhonda Wilkins.

Rhonda Wilkins is the CEO of Diva's Unlimited Inc, (DUI) and the Executive Director of non- profit organization The S.T.A.R.S. Leadership Foundation.

In 1998, Wilkins began her career as a Plus Model, she began to go to castings and go-sees and saw how casting directors would treat the Plus Models. This prompted the birth of Diva's Unlimited Inc. to give a voice for the Plus Community and show them that WE ARE HERE and you will notice us in a positive light.

One may often wonder, what’s behind the name?
In doing some research, the word “diva” is defined among other things as a prima donna.  Well, that is definitely not the image that Rhonda wanted to portray, but it takes a special person to look behind the meaning of a word.

In her vision, a DIVA is a woman who is confident without being arrogant, A woman who in spite of what the world perceives as a beautiful, turns heads when she walks into a room and a woman who feels that her potential in this world is Unlimited!

Diva's Unlimited Inc recently celebrated 10 Years benefiting The S.T.A.R.S. Leadership Foundation.

Ten years earlier after encountering many “Divas” in the fashion circuit our doors were revolving and plus models were evolving; To ensure that all of the needs of the full-figured woman have been addressed, DUI has partnered with several companies across the country to offer workshops, heath tips and access to fashions designers specifically for the full figured woman. With much praise to God, great staff, and awesome models who shared in Diva’s Unlimited vision we were able to provide the city with full figured fashion productions which eventually grew from plus models to slim line, children, and men
For several years throughout the business, Diva’s Unlimited began lending their talents to fashion productions raising money for several charitable organizations, to name a few, but not limited to The Atlanta Lupus Foundation, The Kenny Anderson Foundation, The Dominique Wilkins Foundation and The Paris Bernard Dennis Foundation. DUI also believes in fostering the talents of our youth, and began incorporating the models of tomorrow in many of our productions. You should hear the crowd when a child with so much talent in such a little body steps onto the stage, jokes Wilkins.

Although Diva’s Unlimited has grown over the years, we have never forgotten what prompted the formation of our company over ten years ago, the full-figured Diva!

The Open House for The Plus Academy-ATLANTA is scheduled Saturday, March 20, 2010.

The Plus Academy-Atlanta  is sponsored in part by:  Diva's Unlimited Inc.

Meet Plus Academy - ATLANTA Communications Director –
JOY TRIBBLE

Since name is synonymous with character, the above description embodies Joy in her true essence...

Born and raised in Ohio, Joy comes from a meager up bringing. Raised by the strength and prayer of a single mother, to be well behaved was the standard, not the goal. Throughout the journey of her life, she’s traveled many avenues in the entertainment arena. Initially, she went to school to be a news anchor. She soon found out that her bleeding heart couldn’t endure many of the traumatic scenarios associated with reporting hard core news. From there, radio lended it’s self to be a bit more attractive, and that’s where she began to flourish. Her first radio job was an internship with the number one radio station in Cincinnati, WIZF 100.9 the WIZ (Now 101.1). After interning for only a few months, she received a job offer to work full time for the station. That allowed her to learn the ends and outs of the radio business and positioned her to begin to move up in the ranks. From intern, to Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotion, an opportunity finally opened up for Joy to be an on-air personality. Up for the challenge, Joy didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to get behind the microphone…..That was only the beginning!

In addition to working in radio, Joy began to meet many people in the modeling industry. This also piqued her interest, and the more she became involved with print work, and runway shows, she began to find a love for this craft as well. She’s modeled for Atlanta International Fashion Week two years in a row, the Bronner Brothers Mega Runway Shows as a five year participant, and several other runway shows throughout the country. Most recently, she was featured in the April 2009 edition of an Upscale Magazine article regarding “Pretty Women.” That opened the door to other opportunities in movies, as she’s been featured in two of Tyler Perry’s films, not to mention, theater, television and so much more…

Believe that the sky is the limit. Joy has continued to move through life with the finesse of a gazelle and the determination and strength of a Lion…

In her own words… “Live your dreams….I DARE YOU

Joy's most recent Accomplishment - She has accepted the position as a Correspondent on a weekly talk show, LIFE SIZE RADIO, produced by Ms. Stephanie Arnold.
